Phone call charge

I have not done so for over 19 years but the financial challenges and time constraints are forcing me to reconsider. We have seen local docs charge for after hours phone calls for quite some time and now we are joining them. There are two reasons that are of equal importance.

Certainly the income generated will be quite appreciated but equally important is the filter it creates. If it isnt worth $15 to talk to  the doctor then it cannot be all that important. I certainly know that when we talk to the patients we provide way more that $15 of value.

I still get calls on how to treat a low fever. Certainly in this day and age a patient can find the answer to that far quicker without having to call us.

I know that there will be blowback, but the effect of a free trip to the candy store, is wearing the doctors out. If you can call a doctor for free anytime, there will be many that will not hesitate to call for trivial issues.

I will post later how it turns out.
