welcome home

It is Christmas break at St. Olaf and my daughter was coming home. Her last final was on Friday at noon and she was flying out at 6:30. The long range forecast was for clear weather. Of course the weathermen missed the biggest storm of the season. We live in Maryland and an inch of snow is an event. Five inches closes the area down. We are at 2 feet and counting as I write this.

The snow started an hour or two before her flight was due. Then there were delays in Minneapolis and Chicago and her arrival time kept slipping. When we drove there it took alot of patience and snow driving experience to get there without any drama.

Finally she walks down the steps and she is home!!! The flights after hers were all cancelled. She just made it.She had a tough trip because she packed way too much ( how do you get that concept into a teen girl’s head?). She was oddly different. Just as much drama but alot less whiny. More willing to take on things. Still complaining about things but not really meaning it.  Clearly much more in charge of herself.

It is good to have her back. Her sister started up with the gossip, then the girl talk. Her mother had helicopter arms when she first saw her. I took photos.
