Christmas project

As many of you know, my daughter Holly started college this year. It has been a time of adjustment and mixed feelings for me. When the day of her return for Christmas was nearing I wanted to to do something special for her. I decided to knit her a scarf. Not a particular challenge except I have never knitted before. I told myself that it could not be harder than learning to suture and I started searching the web for help. I also found several kind people to help me. Thanks to all.

There is a remarkable amount of help for beginning knitter’s. There are pictures, videos, beginning patterns, answers to questions etc. I decided to keep it a secret not only from my daughter but from my wife. That way it would be a bigger surprise.  There were many challenges, and I was nearly busted several times but I finished it in time.

christmas surprise

I made it a very long 70″ and way too wide 14″. But it is warm and it is in the Raven’s color of Purple so she can proudly display her football preference around those ‘snotty’ Vikings fans. My wife was completely surprised that I managed to get that done under her nose without her finding out.

I found the knitting very calming. I encourage people to try. I will post tomorrow the details of the story.
